Chapter 4: The Mirror Room

Darkness swallowed the house.

Riyan couldn't see anything.

Not the walls.

Not the chair.

Not even his own hands.

Only footsteps.

Slow.

Heavy.

Coming closer.

Tap.

Riyan's heart pounded.

Every instinct screamed at him to run.

But where?

The house was a maze of darkness now.

Then—

A whisper.

"Left..."

Riyan froze.

It was the same voice from the chair.

Weak.

Distant.

"Go left..."

Without thinking, Riyan obeyed.

He moved through the darkness carefully.

The footsteps behind him continued.

Following.

Patient.

As if they already knew he couldn't escape.

Lightning flashed outside.

For one brief second—

The hallway appeared.

And so did the thing following him.

A tall shadow.

With dozens of faces moving beneath its skin.

Some crying.

Some screaming.

Some begging.

Riyan nearly screamed.

The lightning vanished.

Darkness returned.

And the footsteps became faster.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Running.

Toward him.

"RUN!" the voice whispered.

Riyan sprinted.

He rushed through broken hallways and dusty rooms.

Until he reached a staircase.

At the top—

A wooden door.

Unlike everything else in the house—

It looked untouched.

Almost new.

And carved into it was a symbol.

A circle surrounded by tiny mirrors.

"The Mirror Room..." Riyan whispered.

The footsteps behind him stopped.

Silence.

A terrible silence.

As if whatever chased him refused to come closer.

Riyan grabbed the handle.

The door opened.

The room inside was beautiful.

Hundreds of mirrors covered every wall.

Large mirrors.

Small mirrors.

Broken mirrors.

Ancient mirrors.

The moonlight reflected endlessly between them.

Creating thousands of copies of the room.

Thousands of copies of Riyan.

And standing among those reflections—

A girl.

Aanya.

Not the smiling Aanya from downstairs.

This one looked exhausted.

Pale.

Afraid.

Human.

"You're real..." Riyan whispered.

Tears filled her eyes.

"Yes."

For the first time since entering the house—

Riyan felt hope.

"What is happening here?"

Aanya looked toward the door nervously.

As if expecting something to break through.

"We don't have much time."

The mirrors around them trembled slightly.

"That thing outside..."

Her voice shook.

"It isn't the chair."

Riyan frowned.

"Then what is it?"

Aanya hesitated.

Then pointed toward the oldest mirror in the room.

Its glass was cracked from top to bottom.

Inside it—

A different reflection appeared.

Not the room.

Not Riyan.

A forest.

Ancient.

Dark.

Endless.

"What is that?" Riyan whispered.

Aanya's expression darkened.

"The beginning."

The temperature dropped instantly.

Long before the artist made the chair...

Long before the house existed...

Something lived inside that forest.

Something that fed on fear.

Something that couldn't enter the human world alone.

"It needed a doorway."

Riyan slowly understood.

"The chair..."

Aanya nodded.

"The artist didn't create the curse."

The mirrors shook violently.

"He accidentally released it."

Silence filled the room.

Then—

A crack appeared in one of the mirrors.

Aanya's eyes widened in fear.

"No..."

Another crack.

And another.

The room trembled.

Riyan stepped back.

"What is happening?"

Aanya looked toward the door.

Terrified.

"It found us."

The mirrors began shattering one by one.

CRASH!

A deep roar echoed through the house.

Not human.

Not animal.

Ancient.

Hungry.

The oldest mirror started turning black.

Slowly.

As if darkness were leaking through it.

Aanya grabbed Riyan's arm.

Her voice trembling.

"Whatever happens..."

The blackness spread faster.

"Don't look into the forest."

The mirror exploded.

And something stepped out.

Two glowing eyes opened in the darkness.

Watching them.

Smiling.
