Throughout my journey, hunting for Atlas, I’ve never gotten attached to people. The reason is that Atlas may use that as leverage, or I might get people killed, and their lives are more precious than mine. But while exploring this world, things were different. While at a pub, I noticed a young nomad was about to get jumped by a thug. Normally, I just walk away after that in silence, continue what I was doing, but before I leave, I notice I have an empty pocket, and when that happens, I make a small detour before going to the next place where I might get a clue, as I look around for jobs. I came across a young nomad again. He noticed me and asked for help. I tried to get him off my tail, but he always found me. It was strange; it had gotten annoying enough, so I gave up and listened to him. He asked for directions to a temple called Alancar. I pointed him south, remembering the odd temple I'd found a couple of weeks back. Instead of leaving, he attempted to ask for help, but I tried to walk away again. But I stopped because he said he’ll pay me. I asked how much,” He replied 10,000,000g. Suddenly, I laughed in this world. That's a lot, but I know he was using my greed for cash. He was talking to the wrong person. I agree, telling him I’ll accept a different kind of payment. He gave his name, Joshphen. The two of us headed south. The reason we were going there was that his master told him to go there; he didn’t give him directions, just that he would make it there. I guess that technically happened, since without me, he would just be walking around aimlessly.

I forgot to mention I knew Nomad existed, but I didn’t know what they were, just seeing them walk around here or there most of the time in similar but different outfits. While Joshphen and I journey through this world to the temple, he explains what a nomad is: A warrior by nature who uses magic and can travel to another world. When I ask, “If nomads were warriors, why didn’t he fight back?” He explained that he is a nomad in training for only 4 years if he were going by the normal time of this world. He only knew low-level magic, and the higher stuff he does know, he's just learning on the fly. He could just stick to the weapon combat, but he's a bit rusty. I began to worry about him; wherever we are going, he may either die or get hurt, so I reminded him one day by attacking him off guard; he didn’t get hurt, but he did fall. After that, I helped with weapon combat skills. I didn't know why, maybe I wanted to fight with someone who wasn’t trying to kill me, or maybe something I thought I had left. Whatever it was, I helped Josephen get better. Once we viewed the temple, we rested there for the night. While sitting there, Josephen decided to share some things. One was about me, the nomads know about Atlas and me.

Some found my diary entry across many worlds when he said that. I grew a bit wary, suddenly thinking Atlas had lost his mind and attempted to hire someone, but he calmed my nerves by telling them they don’t see us as a threat to the order despite Atlas becoming more and more violent over time. Nomads weren’t allowed to get involved, I was told when I asked why. What happens if someone does? He didn’t know, but knowing me, they would most likely be punished, either by banishment or something harsher. He admitted he knew who I was when we first met, and he felt bad for getting me involved in a nomadic affair. It was there that he explained why he was there. Before I thought he was on some sort of vision quest. But I was wrong 5 weeks before meeting him; the Josephen tribe was killed, including those in training. He was the only one who survived as his master left him somewhere safe. When he came out, he found everyone dead, and when he found his master, he told him to visit the temple of Alancar. I asked, “What is in there?” He told me his training would be over, and he would either come out fully transformed or nothing. That answer made me worry that he told me once fully transformed, he will go after the nomad who killed his tribe before he harmed other nomads.

The next day, we made our way inside, where Joshphen found a door marked with a symbol; once opened, a light burst forth, blinding me as I saw him walk through it, and it closed. Right there and then, I would leave, forgetting this had happened, and head to the nearest town, but I didn’t. I sat there, days went by, and every time I went to hunt, the door hadn’t opened even an inch. There were several times I considered leaving, but I didn’t. On the 12th day, at the 12th hour, on the 12th min. The door opened, the light shining again, blinding me again as I saw Joshphen's silhouette, the light surrounding him. Making it easier to see him when I did, he was covered in armor that quickly vanished once the door began to close, and he came out with long hair, tired, almost falling as I caught him, and the next thing after that, he was hungry and thirty as hell. I asked him what happened there, but he couldn’t explain, just that he came in scared but was now confident. I laughed for the first time in forever.

The next day, instead of splitting up and doing our own thing, we stayed there. When he asked why I decided to stay, I replied with a shrug. Once, a short detour became a journey of rediscovery for me, as I met many new people who joined our quest to stop a mad nomad from destroying the fabric of the world tree. Once cynical and joyless, I found my reason to move on and keep fighting. After our journey ended, we all went our separate ways. Joshphen and I stayed together for a bit. He brought up the payment he forgot to give me, but I told him to just forget about it. As I sensed Atlas nearby, I told him he already paid me and walked away, not before making a joke about being reincarnated as a nomad. He laughed at the idea as we went out separately, as I write this, and reminisce about my time here. There was never a moment I regretted staying with him.
