The next day, Ryla, Runice, Aerbice, Chris, Tradif, Qrent and Traecil met up in Smiles Park.
“Hello everyone. I’m Traecil. And last night, I worked hard on making outfits for you guys. I hope you like them,” said Traecil, a beautiful young woman in a bun wearing an eye-catching tied blue and yellow silk scarf on her neck. She had a white jumpsuit with a sleeveless peplum styled top and flared pants with 2 more layers of flares attached at the end elegantly without looking like it was stitched on directly.
Ryla: a semi-one-piece outfit consisting of a sleeveless purple and blue hoodie (mainly purple, minor parts blue such as the side of the hood and the strings) and denim shorts that aren’t overly tight fitting. (comfortable for battle) other accessories include blue leg warmers and bell sleeve arm warmers that are mainly blue and have some purple on the top and bottom
Aerbice: a red bolero shrug with pink spaghetti-strapped tank top and a red checkered skirt with built in fitted pants. Other accessories were fake glasses with light-reflecting lenses and chains hanging from the right side of the skirt with a small camera attached to it. (To use her power easily)
Runice: bandages styled like knuckle guards about a forearm’s length, black crop-top with an X style (It’s like putting 2 huge bandages over your chest) and black baggy pants that were super comfortable. Other accessories? A respirator toxic gas mask that covered half her face and allowed her to breathe comfortably due to Traecil’s power. She also had a belly piercing because she thinks it looked “edgy” on her. Her parents didn’t mind either.
Chris: white nylon spandex swimsuit material shirt and a diagonal-cut dress with the rims and corners decorated with pink patterns with built in pants to avoid getting wet if the tears of her enemies overflow and flood the space. None other accessories.
Tradif and Qrent: what they usually did —each other’s clothes, since they were brothers— because they were grownups and to the kids and teenagers, nearly every grownup wore the same thing. They just used an anti-bacterial mask to cover their face and let Traecil use her “magic” on it to avoid it being removed by others or falling off mid-battle. They didn’t want any super cool outfit because they hoped for a simple life while secretly helping citizens.
After that, they took a 10-minute walk to the Town Squads and tried to find the rumored “Squad One”.
“Guys, my power is super useful. We will definitely know their location in no time. Let me handle this,” boasted Ryla.
“No time, huh? We’ll see about that. If you lose, you buy us lunch,” Qrent snickered, forcibly enrolling her into a bet she never joined, exaggerating his disbelief of such audacious words from a seemingly foolish child.
Tradif looked at his watch and monotonously added, “Alright. Timer starts now.”

“Got them! Saloon Salon it is!” She bubbled, excited that she found their location within a minute.
“Oh it really took no time,” regarded Qrent, surprised that a child beat him in his own bet.
“Yeah of course them bad guys are at a bar with hair cutting services,” stated Runice sarcastically.
After all the time wasted on talking, they ran over to Saloon Salon and started searching for the evil Squad One.
“I KNOW YOU ARE THERE, VILLAINS! COME OUT AND FACE US, SQUAD ONE!” Shouted Ryla angrily.
Suddenly, a gush of wind went past them and they heard a roaring “typical villain laugh”.
“MUAHAHAHAHAHA! Youuuu FOUND us! We ain’t no normal villains! We are the Squad One and I’m Flai. They? Are BOOOOORING!” Cackled a middle-aged man with an overly dramatic style of clothing consisting of a yellowish white shirt, half a suit jacket that only had the left side, colourful pants that were neither short or long and a pair of ridiculously large slippers with black and white socks on.
“Us? 5 people gang. Better than any of the villains. Or should I say, worse?” Said a short man with spiky hair and toxic labels all over him, “Guess what? The name’s Tox and I release toxic gas from my mouth. Ain’t that immune to it though.”
A guy with a nonsensical amount of jackets and blazers and coats… well, literally any type of clothing item, muttered, “Sup. I control temperature but I get hypothermia sometimes. I’m Hype.”
“I’m Vince. I’m indestructible,” said Vince, an ordinary looking guy (at least compared to the other members) the with a goofy mushroom haircut.
“Aight, Squad! Not the time for introductions now! Just know I’m Nyap. When I nap, time speeds up,” barked the man in his pajamas with dark circles under his eyes.
Ryla looked at Squad One with a face that said “are you serious?” Then actually said, “your powers are so useless. Can’t you at least try to make yourself sound better?”
Tox replied, “c’mon we make sense. Listen, if you can shoot bullets, are you immune to bullets? See what I mean?”
“Absolutely not. You can definitely wear a bulletproof vest,” implied Runice.
Tox looked mildly annoyed and complained, “Do you have to complicate things so much? I can shoot you in the head and you’ll still die if you’re wearing a bulletproof vest.”
And yes of course, they wasted 10 very useful minutes for fighting and made it into their yapping session. So, getting overly bored from listening to the conversation, Qrent sneakily grabbed Tox’s leg and lifted his whole body up then SLAMMED him down on the floor. Hard. “PLUS FOUR!” Tradif cooperated with his brother and formed a 9-letter word with the cards: A L S H G O U T R E
“SLAUGHTER!” yelled Tradif, who then smashed his fist on Tox’s face. Runice joined in, moving with speed while planning to take down Tox with her doubled attacks.
“Time for my power,” whispered Tox, letting out his toxic gas as he spoke. Runice ignored the gas and swiftly pushed Qrent and Tradif at the same time with her power. Tox used this time to get up and was elbowed in the head by Ryla, successfully knocking him down in not less than 2 minutes.
Ryla didn’t think much of it and scoffed, “Well, that was weak. Anyways…”
She looked above, seeing the the dangling man on the ceiling, then reached out to his calves and yanked him down on the floor.

Place: Saloon Salon
Goal: defeat Squad One
Option: tell Chris to blind him and attack him myself while Runice and Aerbice attack Hype and the twins take down Vince.
Success rate: 80%
“Chris! Blind him! Runice, Aerbice! Attack Hype! And Tradif and Qrent go attack Vince!” Commanded Ryla. Chris quickly ran over to her and locked her eyes on Flai. He cried and cried, weeped and weeped, sobbed and sobbed, tears uncontrollably gushing out his lacrimal glands. Ryla did not care. She just wanted to defeat the villains and gain fame and respect. She didn’t hesitate for a second and directed an uppercut straight up his chin, making him cry out in pain and collapse, then threw him on top of Tox, and watched them and tried to prevent any possible escape.

On the other hand, Hype was getting beaten up by Runice. A kick at the cheek, a jab at the ribs, a punch to the stomach, a poke in the eye, it all hurt terribly, even more since it was doubled.
“Aerbice! I need information!”
“On it!” SNAP—
Name: Hype Pofermea
Age: 30
Organisation: The Original Humanity, it believes that humanity is currently false and filled with phonies. They believe that humanity should be about survival based on ability and not following fake moralities such as pretending to agree with some famous people or pretending to be polite with some powerful people when they really are just morons with no capabilities who need to rely on other people’s fame to survive. The boss (name unknown) hates this way of living because he tried to improve on himself based on others’ opinions about him, but every time he changes something, he loses a part of his original identity. He knows that adaptability is also important and he does well in that to blend in with the rest, pretending to understand or follow the same trends as “normal” people, whichh really just means: majority, but he loathes this way of living and being unable to express his true feelings without judgement or criticism so he tries to form an organisation to bring back the original way of living, survival, but with modern technology included in the new way of living to make things more convenient and comfortable without destroying the ideas and beliefs of his ideal humanity and society.
Power: Icy Ice. Can make the temperature drop by a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius within a 5-meter radius.
Weakness(es): not immune to the cold. Receives more pain when getting hit in the cold.

“Runice, take off his jackets now!”
“Aight.”
—SHRED—
“Don’t rip them! These are expensive dammit!” Grunted Hype. Was this sentence even necessary? To prevent his layers getting torn off? No. To make him sound more interesting? Maybe. Well, it didn’t matter. He immediately dropped the temperature down by 20 degrees Celsius out of pure frustration and rage.
“Tch. You’re foolish,” stated Runice, then flying her left hand straight to his throat while using her right arm to continuously swing around to convert her kinetic energy into thermal energy in order to keep her body warm in the 3°C temperatured environment. She raised her right leg up, kicking it up from the side in a flash, then slowly pulled her hand back and raised it upwards just as she was about to completely cut off Hype’s air supply. Hype let out a shaky laugh, “heh… heheh… I knew you couldn’t do i—” Runice slammed her leg down his shoulder and immediately broke his collarbone.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH,” screamed Hype, tears flooding the floor just like Flai, though not being affected by Chris. He, too, was taken down and flung over to the pile of villains.
"Didn't you know that pain feels worse in the cold due to hightened nerve sensitivity?"

On the other other hand, if you have a third hand, or maybe I should just say “at the same time”, Qrent used his skip card to stun Vince while Tradif used his words. But they soon understood what Vince meant by indestructible and simply gave up on the fight since his punches were as weak as a child’s.
“Wait, guys. Isn’t there supposed to be one more person?” Asked Ryla.
“Yeah. Tossed him in there earlier. He just sleeps. Let’s just call ‘em cops and end this stuff now. That indestructible guy… let’s just tie him up. Use my spare bandages,” replied Runice nonchalantly. Ryla quickly scurried over and took the spare bandages from her hands, wrapping them tightly around his wrists while Aerbice did the same to his legs.
“Why aren’t you fighting back?” Aerbice questioned.
“To spread the greatness of the Original Humanity! If we don’t get caught and reported on the news, who’s gonna tell everyone what we think? We are the most revolutionary group in this contemporary era! We don’t like it in here, Smilestown. Everything and everyone’s all fake and fake and fake! We need to smile for this, laugh for that. You don’t even understand how suppressing this hellhole of a place is! I’m so tired of all of you! Pretending to care just so I can work for you longer and earn you more money that I won’t even get a tenth of, promising kids fake futures just so they can study for you harder and get better grades so the principal pays more, when in reality, all the promised future you get is nothing but an under-waged job at a McSmiley’s fast food restaurant!” Shouted Vince agitatedly.
Soon, the heroes heard a faint “knock… knock…” sound coming from behind a shut door that had “staff only” written on it. They went over tried opening the door, yet it was locked. They searched for the key in the pile of fallen villains and successfully retrieved a silver key with the words “saloon salon” imprinted over the handle from the breast pocket of one of Hype’s jackets. They walked towards the door and unlocked it, revealing the 5 people, who apparently were also power-wielders, trapped within the room.
“Thank you so much for saving us! My name is Stora. I’m a medical student! But I kinda got banned from going into any hospital unless I am the patient. My power is called Destructive Healer. I often use that to heal patients, however the healing requires me to deal continuous damage to the patient so I ended up traumatising them and getting banned. I hope I can join your hero team to help as a healer!” Thanked a young woman wearing a sky-blue t-shirt, white pants and a lab coat over it.
“I’m Track! You guys are coooool! Can I join you too? My power? Tracker Tracks your Tracks! Named it myself! Hah! It can track down whoever I’ve seen before! I sometimes stalk my neighbours with that. Pretty useful for finding enemies eh?” Followed Track with a sense of enthusiasm.
“Oh. Uhh. Cyde. Life’s not worth living anyways. Guess I’ll uhh… join you. I just really hate everyone for having overly excessive expectations for me. They expect me to have good grades but I’m literally dyslexic and I can’t spell. Anyways, here’s my power in case you wanna recruit me or something. Whatever. “Hang on a sec” produces 5 hanging ropes that can appear anywhere I want but they have to be looped onto something manually. Max 2m length. Long-ranged power.” Said a teenage boy with a cap, hair that covers his eyes, a long-sleeved shirt with sleeves longer than his arms and long baggy pants.
“It’s summer. Why are you wearing long sleeves?” Wondered Aerbice curiously.
“Cut myself. Can’t show it. Draws attention. I hate attention,” he conversed, clearly not caring about what he does to himself.
“And what about you two?” She asked again, this time directed at the two girls standing in the corner.
“I- I- I am Karu… and- and don’t hate me please. I know I am a girl but I can do things too,” murmured a girl shakily.
“Don’t worry! We accept anyone as long as they aren’t evil! Why do you worry about this?” She quizzed and gave a warm, reassuring smile.
“Uhm… my father hates mom because she gave birth to me instead of a boy. And- and then mom always hits me because I made her get beaten up by my father. So uhm… they tried for another child and mom wants a boy but… but I heard the doctor say that it’s a girl… And uhm I wear hoodies and pants and cut my hair short so I can look more masculine and- and uhh maybe father might at least look at me. I also train a lot to be stronger and seem more like a boy,” she replied.
“So what’s your power?”
“I- I can join? Oh okay! Here!”
Power: Queen of the Board, can summon chess pieces to attack opponents. (Long-ranged, Short-ranged, Buffer)
King: mini bomb
Queen: off-field long-ranged damage can only be summoned once a month
Bishop & rook: can summon once a month, similar to queen but they are close-ranged attackers who can automatically move towards the enemy and give punch-like attacks
Knight: on-field damage buffer for self and allies but has to be traded with 1% total blood per minute (daily reset for blood)
Pawn: shield (self only)
“And uhm this is Karde, my friend. She’s mute so she can’t introduce herself, so I’ll do it for her. She likes peace and wants people to have no conflicts. However, due to being mute, she is unable to convince others to be peaceful, so she is forced to stop others’ actions by sometimes using her cards to attack them. It seems a bit cruel but it’s the only way for her to stop others’ cruel actions,” said Karu, with more confidence this time, likely because of wanting to give her friend a good image. Karde nodded as she spoke, proud that her friend understood what she wanted to say, although not quite understanding the reason behind her thoughts.
After everyone introduced themselves, including the heroes, they recruited the 5 people they saved and called the cops on Squad One. The cops arrested Squad One and the 5 people complimented the heroes. They soon returned home to rest or do their jobs or maybe they just went to play. Ryla, Chris and Aerbice studied for their tests, Runice helped out her in her family’s farm, Tradif and Qrent did their jobs on computers. Stora ran healing experiments in some lab rats she bought, Karu went shopping with Karde, Track went stalking his neighbours and Cyde was… doing nothing.
That night, Ryla watched the news with her family and saw something truly appealing to her:
SMILESNEWS: 6 HEROES SUCCESSFULLY TAKE DOWN “SQUAD ONE” VILLAINS! 5 INNOCENTS SAVED!
“Welcome to Smilestown Evening News! Today, 6 unknown heroes took down the villains known as Squad One and saved 5 innocent lives. We managed to arrest the villains and figured out their goals. As the villains said, they are currently working under a terrorist organization known as “the Original Humanity”. They have plans to reshape the entirety of society. This threatens our safety and we must be careful of dangerous power-welders that can possibly be working for them.”
After dinner and showering, Ryla laid on her bed, smiling to herself as she thought of what adventures lie ahead and how impactful she would be.
Oh how the people will adore me if I save them!
