Monday mornings always felt slower than the rest of the week.

The excitement from the football match had finally settled, and the school had returned to its usual rhythm.

Teachers focused on lessons.

Students complained about homework.

The laughter from Friday had been replaced by the sound of pages turning.

After the third period, our literature teacher entered the classroom carrying several books.

"We'll be spending today's class in the library."

The room immediately came alive.

"The library?"

"Does that mean no lecture?"

The teacher smiled.

"There will still be work."

A few students sighed dramatically.

The school library was one of the quietest places on campus.

Tall shelves filled with books lined the walls, and sunlight poured through large windows onto the reading tables.

I liked it the moment I stepped inside.

"This place suits you," Narin whispered as we walked in.

I looked at him.

"Why?"

"It's quiet."

"And?"

"You belong in quiet places."

I smiled.

"Maybe."

The teacher assigned each student a book to read and asked us to write a short summary before the period ended.

I found a table near the window and opened my book.

A few seconds later, the chair across from me moved.

"You really thought I'd sit somewhere else?" Narin whispered.

"You actually came here to read?"

He grinned.

"I came here because you chose this table."

I rolled my eyes, though I couldn't hide my smile.

For almost twenty minutes, the library was completely silent.

Even Narin stayed focused on his book.

Every now and then, he'd glance up as if making sure I was still there.

Then he'd go back to reading.

It was... peaceful.

When the teacher announced that there were only ten minutes left, Narin looked at the blank page in front of him.

"I've written one sentence."

"Only one?"

"I spent too much time reading."

"That's what you're supposed to do."

"I forgot about the writing part."

I shook my head.

"You're impossible."

He leaned closer.

"Can you help me?"

I looked around.

The teacher was busy helping another student.

I quietly pointed to a few important parts of the book.

"Start with these."

He nodded and quickly began writing.

As the bell rang, everyone handed in their summaries.

On the way back to the classroom, Narin bumped my shoulder lightly.

"You saved me."

"You would've finished eventually."

"Maybe."

He smiled.

"But it would've been much worse."

As we climbed the stairs, one of our classmates walked past us with a teasing smile.

"You two are together again?"

Narin answered before I could.

"We're just friends."

The classmate laughed.

"I didn't say anything."

He continued down the hallway.

I looked at Narin.

"You didn't have to explain."

He shrugged.

"I know."

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Then he smiled the same easy smile he always wore.

"Come on."

"The teacher will be here before us."

We hurried toward the classroom together.

Neither of us realized it yet...

But people had started noticing that wherever one of us was...
