After another day of preparations from not just the school, but also the entire kingdom, the festival had just begun. Guests rushed to Celestial Star Academy while wearing their own kimonos, the liveliness was at an all-time high. Guests were amazed at what the students were able to do in only two days, besides the small events on each floor, the ground floor was also filled with mini games set by the teachers and welcomed the guests with open arms.
The event was going smoothly, even the guards could have a bit of fun before they needed to go back to protect the school and guests.
At the courtyard, the dance performance students were practicing and the guests couldn't wait to see the full result.
Just then, king David and the royal family came to the academy, everyone immediately tensed up and bowed, though king David told everyone to ease up and enjoy the event.
He was also greeted by principal Agnus, "Long time no see Agnus," king David told her.
"Well, I have a lot of work and you are also the king of Last Star, so we can't meet often," principal Agnus replied.
Karasu, Nex and Mr Blaze were on patrol duty, they had fun while keeping their guards up, especially when they were near the royal family and the courtyard, they were not letting any Cruels mess this event up.
A few hours later, the star dance was about to start and everyone was prepared, though Karasu, Nex and Mr Blaze were on edge because they already spotted four spies and they were scared that more will ruin the dance, but they hoped they already took out all of the spies.
As the dance began, one couple stood out from the rest, even from Ms T and her husband. It was Anas and Rai, their dance moves were like calm flowing water, silver flowers with orange highlights danced around them, the moonlight looked like it was purposefully only shining on the two and they became the centre of attention, even the royal family noticed them and their harmonious dance.
Finally, it was the trio duel against each other, the crowd even placed bets on who would win. The favorite to win was Karasu since he looked like the strongest, followed by Nex in second and Anas in last. They left Rai with Mr Blaze and principal Agnus to keep her safe before their duel.
"May you guys have an amazing battle," Karasu said.
"Let the strongest student claim victory," Nex continued.
"And let the battle be remembered by everyone," Anas finished the sentence.
The battle commenced, Karasu shot blood into the air and small blood moons were created, then each the moons shot a high pressure blood beam. This forced Anas to create walls of sapphire and Nex to block with his bone arms. And now it was their turn to counter, Anas created small swordfishes that jetted around the battle arena and Nex created skulls of pure purple magic that exploded on command. The swordfishes slashed through the skulls, the beams of blood cut the fishes in half and the skulls exploded a few of the blood moons.
It was basically a stalemate, until Anas used Megalodon, it swam and tried to bite down on Karasu and Nex, but its mobility was pretty slow, so Anas decided to blow it up near the two and it worked surprising well, though he was tired, he won the battle.
Until there was a scythe to his neck, turns out Karasu made his armor which blocked most of the damage and sneakily charged at Anas, and he claimed the victory, though he fell to the ground after that.
After the festival, the trio along with Rai, a few teachers and principal Agnus went to the bottom of the academy and there's a dungeon to capture Cruels and the four Cruels spies are also there.
"Are you sure they will say anything about their leader?" Anas asked.
"If they don't, I will make sure they will," principal Agnus told him.
Each cell of the dungeon has at least four Cruels, though all of them were very weak, Karasu instinctively created his scythe for protection, not wanting Rai to suddenly get kidnapped. A few of the smarter ones that can speak mocked Karasu for him worrying so much about a little defenseless girl, but he didn't mind them.
When they got to the cells with the four spies, they didn't give a damn and told the group to fuck off.
"So you don't want to talk?" Principal Agnus asked.
"We won't talk, you can starve us all you want, we won't talk," one of the spies said.
"Not even for a chance to escape this place?" Principal Agnus asked, that question shocked the spies.
"If we answer your damn questions, we can leave?" Another one asked, principal Agnus nodded her head and they started to talk.
"So, who is your boss? Why did it sent you four?" Anas asked.
"We don't know its name, we only called it boss. It sent us to gather information about the academy so that it can raid it next month and capture a random girl," one of the spies said, its response terrified Rai.
"How powerful is it?" Karasu questioned. "Maybe emerald ranked," another answered. "That's it? I thought it would be stronger," Anas said.
"That's what you think, but it knows a lot more than you would expect. It already knew the Cruels are doomed to be crushed by the humans, there are only around fifty diamond ranked Cruels and only the big boss can fight with the prismatics. The only reason why it is doing this is to prove that it will be a closer fight," one of them said.
"Well, we gathered enough information, release them," principal Agnus told the guards.
As they were trying to leave, Mr Blaze incinerated all of them, "I thought you would let them leave," Nex said to principal Agnus.
"Yes, I did, but I didn't say they would leave alive," principal Agnus replied.
After they leave the dungeon and the trio along with Rai sat on a bench together.
"So, that thing wants to capture Rai? Well, we aren't letting that happen," Nex said.
"But it might have a secret plan to even up the playing field," Anas said.
"An emerald ranked Cruel fighting a school with emerald ranked guards and twelve diamond ranked teachers is so dumb, it has to have something up its sleaves," Anas continued.
"Hey Anas, since the cruelty rings is basically just the Cruels's Earth, do you think there are creatures similar to the Minotaur and spider queen?" Karasu asked.
This is where something hit Anas's mind, "The rovers! Rovers are dog-like beasts with multiple eyes, though they can't use eye magic. The rovers are easily tamed, even if the owner is weaker than the rover itself. If it has hundreds of rovers, it might actually stand somewhat of a chance," Anas said.
"Well, guess we have to get even stronger," Karasu said.
"I think our lives are now solely focused on training now, why can't we have a break? Nothing eventful happened during our first year here," Nex said, wanting to go back to the peaceful days.
"Once we stop the Cruels in a month, how about we go to a different kingdom to have a vacation?" Anas said.
