The night was quiet.

A cool breeze passed between us.

Then back at me.

"You always think about other people."

I laughed softly.

"I just forgot."

"You still came."

"I guess I did."

He smiled.

A real smile.

One that reached his eyes.

For some reason...

Seeing him smile like that made me smile too.

At that moment...

I didn't realize something had begun to change inside me.

Not love.

Not yet.

A feeling of comfort whenever I was with him.

A feeling I had never expected to find.

I said goodbye and started walking home.
